How to Safely Set Up a Game Cheat: The Complete 2026 Guide

A step-by-step guide to safely installing and configuring a premium cheat in 2026. Covers Secure Boot, antivirus, HWID protection, and avoiding stupid bans.

Most ban stories start with a bad setup, not a bad cheat. Follow this checklist every time you install a new cheat β€” it'll save you a hardware ban, a refund fight, and a lot of frustration.

Before You Buy

  1. Check the status page for the cheat you want. If it shows "Offline" or "Updating," hold off. Don't buy a detected cheat hoping it'll fix itself overnight.
  2. Read the system requirements carefully. Some cheats require specific Windows builds, Secure Boot states, or motherboard BIOS settings. If your setup can't meet them, pick a different cheat.
  3. Verify the seller's reputation. Look for trader ratings, reviews, and an active Discord with real people answering tickets in under an hour.

Before You Install β€” Safety Prep

1. Whitelist your antivirus

Windows Defender and third-party antivirus will universally flag cheat files as malware. That's not a sign they're malicious β€” it's a sign they work. Cheats use the same low-level Windows APIs as malware, so any behavior-based scanner flags them.

Go to Windows Security β†’ Virus & threat protection β†’ Manage settings β†’ Add or remove exclusions and whitelist your cheat folder, the cheat's loader executable, and any DLL files.

2. Check your Secure Boot state

Different cheats require different Secure Boot states. Kernel-level internal cheats usually require Secure Boot OFF. External/overlay cheats typically work with Secure Boot ON.

Check your current state: press Win + R, type msinfo32, press Enter, and look for "Secure Boot State" in the list.

3. Run an HWID spoofer first

This is the step most people skip. A spoofer changes your hardware fingerprint before you load the cheat, so if the cheat ever gets detected, the detection links to a fake HWID β€” not your real one.

Run a spoofer once, reboot, and then launch your cheat. Never skip this.

4. Close unnecessary software

Anti-cheats scan for suspicious processes. Close OBS (unless you have stream-proof cheat), Discord overlay, RGB software, and any browser-based overlays.

Installing the Cheat

  1. Download from the official dashboard β€” never from Discord DMs, never from forum links. Stick to the seller's verified dashboard.
  2. Extract to a folder with a normal name (e.g. C:\Games\Tools\). Avoid suspicious-sounding folders like C:\cheats\aimbot\
  3. Run the loader as Administrator. Right-click β†’ Run as administrator. Most cheats fail to inject without it.
  4. Enter your license key when prompted. Don't share it β€” most sellers auto-ban shared keys.

In-Game Configuration β€” Don't Look Obvious

  • Aimbot smoothing β€” set to 30-50% for legit-looking gameplay. 100% smoothness = snap aim = killcam reports.
  • FOV β€” 3-5 degrees for rifles, 10 for snipers. A 180Β° FOV is an instant manual-review trigger.
  • ESP settings β€” skeleton and box ESP are fine. Max-rendered-distance chams are noticeable to spectators.
  • Triggerbot β€” add a minimum delay (30-80ms). Instant-reaction triggerbot is the #1 way to get video-reported.
